Destruction Of Mother Earth
Where has our clean air gone,
Will we cease to be able to breathe?
Can our lives be a better existence,
If we destroy everything nature has provided?
Where have the wild animals disappeared to,
Have their homes been invaded by civilization?
Our roads and highways are lined with their remains,
Because they had to venture out in search for food.
The trees, the forest that once were,
Turned to concrete and asphalt, brick and stone.
Birds that once perched high in the trees,
Now travel between buildings much taller and colder.
The atmosphere once filled with ash that bellowed up from earth,
Now is scattered with debris of man's great escape.
The lands clear clean waters from the past,
Now dark and dingy, coast cluttered with trash.
The once natural fires, caused by nature to control growth,
Now fires ignited by man to clear out space.
Is it natures way to get back at man,
For destroying all it gave us,
By the way its winds and rains,
Its lightening and storms,
Destroy what man has made?
