Without A Friend

A lonely world, a sad existence,
To go through life without a friend.
Not to have a shoulder to cry on,
Or someone to lean on in times of stress,
Your life would be lost without a friend.
Never a kind word or sympathetic embrace,
You would cry alone without a friend.
No one to joke with, no smiles to share,
Your days would be empty without a friend.
Never to share your joys, your happiness,
Years of sadness would surround you without a friend.
Promises you would only make to yourself,
No one to depend on without a friend.
Words not spoken or any to listen,
Boredom would prevail you without a friend.
None to brag on, nor to boast their ego,
No one will be there without a friend.
None to love or to love in return,
A disappointing life you would live,
Without a friend.
