Setting Up Your POP3 Email Account

Speak & Mail 2000 can check your POP3 inbox for new messages and read the header and/or the body of the message for you. First, you need to tell Speak & Mail 2000 about your POP3 email accounts. For Speak & Mail to be able to check your email account, your email account must be a POP3 account. You can ask your Internet Service Provider if your email is POP3 or not. Once you know that you have a POP3 account, please follow the following steps:

	In Speak & Mail main window, go to the 'Email' menu and select 'Account Settings'. A window will appear showing your email current configured email accounts. If this is your first time, you will need to setup an email account.
	Click on "New" to create a new email account.
	Enter the email account name (This is a name that you use to identify this email account)
	Enter the POP3 server, username, password (You can double check this info from your Internet Service Provider. The port and timeout are usually 110 and 60.
	Make sure that the "Enable Account" checkbox is checked to allow Speak & Mail 2000 to check this account for new messages.
	Click 'Close' to save your settings. You could have added another email account at this time before clicking 'Close'.

To setup the preferences for when new mail arrives. In Speak & Mail main window, go to the 'Email' menu and select 'Preferences & Settings'.

You can configure the following features from here:

	The frequency of Speak & Mail checking your email accounts.
	Whether Speak & Mail should check your email accounts at start up.
	Whether the subject, sender and/or date of the new message is read at arrival?
	Whether the email body of the message should be read, and if so, how many lines should be read?

Press 'OK' and you are now ready to receive emails if your POP3 information was correct. Click on 'Check' to check for new messages at anytime and switch to the 'Email Reader' tab if you want to read your emails. The account drop down list on the top will show you which account you want Speak & Mail 2000 to show in the message list.
