WebSpeak's Main Window

The first thing you will see when WebSpeak is run, is the window you see below:

WebSpeak window is divided into two sections (halves). The left half displays the list of commands and the order in which the commands will be running. From the left half you can add, remove and reorder commands.

The right half of the window, shows the properties for each commands. When a command is selected in the left side, the right side will show the settings for the selected comand. For example, in the capture above, the selected command is "Speak", and the right side shows the properties for the Speak command.

Example:

In the capture above, the left half has the following commands:

  1. Show Character

  2. Play Animation

  3. Move To

  4. Speak

  5. Hide Character

When this project is executed (previewed), the following will happen if you use this in your web page:

  1. A character will appear on the screen.

  2. The character will play some animation (You can define the animation from the right side, more details will come in later sections).

  3. The Character will move from one point on the screen to another

  4. The Character will say "Add text to be spoken here". This is all configurable be editing the setting on the right side.

  5. The character will hide.

You can see a quick summary of the settings for each command if you click on the "+" sign beside each command. See capture below:

WebSpeak Menu:

WebSpeak has the following menu items:

New Project: Start a new project

Open Project: Open a previously saved project

Save Project: Save the project

bullet

Save Project As: Save the project with a different name

bullet

Preview: Preview the current project. A preview window will be launched and shows you the character with what you specified

Export to HTML: Save the project as HTML

bullet

View HTML Code: View the HTML code that you can paste into your page that reflects the project you created

Check for Updates: Check for Updates on the Web

Exit: Closes WebSpeak

Edit Menu
bullet

Copy HTML Code: Copy the HTML code to Clipboard, so that you can paste it some where else

Copy Script Code: Copy the Script (NO HTML TAGS) to clipboard so that you can paste the code into your HTML files

View Menu

Expand All Commands: Expand the mini details on each command

Collapse All Commands: Collapses the mini details on all commands

Show Warnings Window: Shows the warnings window with useful hints

Help Menu
Displays this help web page

About Menu
allows you to visit various ShadiSoft web sites and find out the version of WebSpeak that you have.

Unlock WebSpeak: Select this item when you register WebSpeak to enter your registration code.
